For the Pure in Heart
I’ve been reflecting a lot on purity lately. Purity is
necessary if you want to further seek God’s face, to be near him or dwell in his
presence. Because he’s holy. And it’s he who makes us holy and purifies us. But
there are processes for us, as fallen humans, to lay down our own wills and
desires, and say, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit
within me.” (Psalm 51:10). We might be going along in life well, but we
still need to ask Yeshua if there is any unclean thing in us that needs to go.
And
don’t you just love The Beatitudes that we find in Matthew 5:3-12? Flowing from
the prolific Sermon on the Mount during Yeshua’s ministry on earth, one of my
favorites of his teachings is “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see
God.”
I
want to see God.
I want to see who I love so much, but who will always love me more. Nobody can out-love Jehovah.
And like love letters from the Lord, he’s been giving me handfuls of dreams and visions about daisies the past few weeks. Daisies have always symbolized purity for me. They’re keepers, in that I keep most of these recent dreams and visions private and close to my heart. As I was walking the other day, though, it dawned on me that wild daisies bordered all around the property where I live. It was like my dwelling was touched by God. And he spoke to my heart and said that purity is also protection. I am in his care, and he purifies my heart. His hand of protection is all around me. He reminded me of this by these daisies that also blanketed the path all the way down to the creek that runs through the land on which I live. The sudden awareness of all these daisies was like a splash of Heaven on earth for me. What a divinely grand gesture. I will not again take it for granted.
And
just today, as I took a longer walk, I ascended a hill. This hill’s shoulders
unfortunately had been mowed and were void of all the lovely wildflowers that
liked to grow. But I stopped to catch my breath, for it was steep and the air
was humid, and right where I stopped happened to be a single daisy on the entire rise.
Right under my nose while I’d been lost in thought about… daisies! And
reflecting on purity (and considering writing this blog, so then I had
confirmation). The mower had missed a little patch on a long stretch and there was that one daisy. How beautiful is that!? All
things work together for good (Romans: 8:28). God can take the simplest thing
to emphasize a point, and I’m touched by his care.
I feel to say that there seem to be many people who are too busy or tuned out of the Spirit to notice such things, or they might disregard small things, considering them insignificant. Yet God desires to show us love through his creation. God is love. (1 John 4:16). Creation is for us to enjoy and grow with. He wants to share meaningful communication ongoing. The simplest and smallest things can speak profound volumes. If you struggle to hear or see God or understand his language, take the time to notice the details. He’s in every single one, and each detail of your life… if you just be still and observe.
Purity is necessary to walk righteously. Purity is protection. To be pure in heart, we’re blessed, because we will see God.
Do me a favor: the next time you notice a wild daisy, think of it as a love note just for you from your Creator. And meditate on the words of your holy Messiah, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will
see God.”

In the spin of all that is distracting and overwhelming, comes your message. Thank you.
